NEWSLETTER
- INTERSEN PHASE (GRADES 4-7) CYCLE TEST PROGRAMME
Parents and learners are hereby informed of the Cycle test programme that will commence on the 03rd of March 2025 and will conclude on the 14th of March 2025. A copy of the timetable will be issued to learners tomorrow. In order for learners to produce good results, parents must ensure that learners revise and prepare adequately. Please note that there will be tests for some subjects only, as other subjects will be assessed with other forms of assessment which is prescribed in subject Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs). Grade 1-3 and LSEN learners must come to school daily as assessment is continuous. All the best to our learners for the test programme.
- ANNUAL SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH DAY
Our annual school photograph day will take place on the 24th of February 2025. All learners must come to school well-groomed and neatly attired in a white shirt and a school tie. Package prices and further details will be communicated. Learners will not be allowed to wear PE uniform or civvies on the day.
- CIVVIES DAY
Learners will be allowed to wear civvies to school on the 28th of February 2025 at a cost of R25 payable only on the Karri app. We remind parents to ensure that learners come to school respectfully and modestly dressed, being fully clothed. Make-up and jewellery are NOT allowed!
- FETCHING OF LEARNERS IMMEDIATELY AFTER SCHOOL
Parents/guardians and transport operators are hereby notified that all learners must be fetched immediately after school. No learners are allowed on or outside the school premises after school hours, unless there is a valid consent form for extra-murals. We implore all parents/guardians and transport operators to ensure that they comply as we aim to ensure the safety of our learners. The school will not be liable for incidents that occur after school hours. Parents must drop/fetch learners at the gate except when it is raining. Thank you for your co-operation.
- MONITORING OF THE ASSESSMENT PLAN & HOMEWORK
The assessment plan was issued to Intersen Phase (Grades 4-7) last week. We implore parents/guardians to monitor the assessment plan so that all assessment tasks, projects, and assignments are handed in on time. Late or tardy submissions will not be tolerated. We expect your co-operation in this regard. We urge parents and guardians to monitor learners’ books to ensure that all classwork and homework activities are up to date. Incomplete activities disadvantage learners and create academic backlogs which result in poor academic results. Strict monitoring at home on a daily basis will assist teachers to move progressively with the very lengthy syllabi at school.
- DROPPING OFF LUNCH/BOOKS/ITEMS AT SCHOOL
We remind parents/guardians that dropping off lunch/meals, books, projects or other items for learners is strictly prohibited. We expect our learners to be responsible and not leave their lunches/meals at home. We also remind parents to ensure that learners are organized and prepared the day before so that they do not forget to bring their books and assessments/projects to school as per their timetables and assessment plans. This is non-negotiable. This has been effected due to learner safety concerns and we expect our parents and guardians to co-operate with the school.
- ON CUE THEATRE SHOW ON BULLYISM
Midrand Primary School takes bullyism as a serious scourge that needs to be addressed in our society and schools because if unattended, results thereof can be catastrophic. We would like to thank all the parents who paid for their children to attend the show on “bullyism” which took place on Tuesday. Please request your child to give you feedback from their show experience. However, some parents did not pay for their children. Such parents are kindly requested to pay R50 for the show because all learners were allowed to attend (with the aim of solving the problem holistically). We are aware of Karri App glitches experienced by some parents. All payments should be made through the Karri App or EFT, using the school account details and your child’s name and surname as reference.
- ATHLETICS RESULTS
Learners who participated in the Inter-school athletics competition represented our school well in all events and with excellent sportsmanship throughout the day. We are proud to announce that 30 learners will be proceeding to the District round of the competition to be held on 25 February 2025. We wish our athletes all the best. Yes again, Midrand Primary School obtained the 1st overall position amongst 15 schools! We would like to thank our athletes and our staff members that accompanied the team for their dedication and commitment. We also acknowledge our supportive parents who were cheerleading and supporting our athletes on the day.
- TERM 1 EXTRA MURALS FOR GRADE 4-7 (INTERSEN PHASE)
The pre-season extra-mural programme was supposed to officially commence on the 17th of February 2025. Due to weather conditions, we will officially start on 24 February 2025, weather permitting. The extra-mural progammes running this term are soccer, netball, mini soccer, mini netball, chess, visual art, music, and drama.
