WELCOME TO TERM TWO
Welcome back to school after what we hope was a wonderful and exciting Easter holidays spent with family. The second term is well underway with teachers and learners actively engaged in quality teaching and learning.
We urge all parents to continue to be involved in their children’s education. Today’s parents evening offers all of you an opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss his/her performance of the previous term, decide on intervention strategies and set performance targets for Term 2. We look forward to your continued support and co-operation.
PARENTS EVENING (REMINDER)
All parents are invited to the parents evening to be held today, 20 April 2017 at 16h00-19h00.
We wish to welcome Miss Karabo Makhafola who has taken over the role of school administrator. We wish her well in her new role.
FREEDOM DAY AND WORKERS DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Please be informed that Friday, 28 April 2017 is a school holiday. It falls between Thursday, 27 April (Freedom day) and Monday, 01 May (Workers Day). Learners will return to school on Tuesday, 02 May 2017. We wish everyone a joyful and safe long weekend.
The school will host the annual Fantasia event on 05 May 2017 at a cost of R60 per learner. We will have a half school day. The fun activities will commence at 11h00 and end at 14h30. There will be food, cool drinks, sweets and tons of entertainment for everyone.
Parents are informed that the school assembly will move from being held on Friday at 07:30 to Tuesday at 07:45. Learners are expected to be punctual for assembly and are encouraged to dress in their full school uniform for assembly. Please note that the school times for grade 4-7 remain unchanged from Monday to Friday.
SPORTING ACTIVITIES FOR TERM 2
Parents are to take note of the sporting codes their children are involved in this term. Please ensure that you have read and completed the indemnity form and that is signed and returned to the relevant teacher. We encourage you to support your children and to also ensure that necessary transport arrangements are made to collect your children after practices and matches. The following sporting codes are being played this term: Chess, Gymnastics, Netball, Soccer and Volleyball.
RE-TEACHING FOR ENGLISH
Please take note that re-teaching will take place on Wednesdays from 13H30- 14H30.
EDUCATIONAL DAY TRIPS FOR TERM 2
- Grade 4:
The grade 4 learners will be going on a day trip to Cradle of Humankind (Maropeng) on 02 June 2017. The cost is R 180.00.
- Grade 6:
The grade 6 learners will be going on a day trip to Apartheid Museum and Mandela House, Vilakazi St in Soweto on 27 June 2017. The cost is R200.00.
All the current learners who will be studying at Midrand Primary in 2018 are expected to re-register from 24 April- 08 May 2017 by filling the re-registration form, which will be issued to all learners on Monday, 24 April 2017.
FETCHING OF LEARNERS
Parents are requested to make appropriate transport arrangements to collect their children on time or make use of the after care facilities. Learners should not be left unsupervised on the school premises. The school will not be liable for incidents that take place after stipulated school hours.
Please note that learners will be expected to be dressed in the winter school uniform as follows:
- Culottes /Khaki trousers with a white shirt, tie and blazer OR
- Culottes /Khaki pants with a blue golf shirt and jersey OR
- Full tracksuits
- Girls may wear black stockings with culottes
Please note that the blazer may only be worn with the white shirt and tie and the tracksuit jacket may not be worn with the skirt or khaki pants. Kindly ensure that all clothing items are labelled with your child’s name.
All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
