CYCLE TEST PROGRAMME – TERM 3 2018

The Cycle Test programme will commence on 03 September 2018 for learners in Grade 7 and on 04 September 2018 for learners in Grades 4-6. Parents are advised to strictly monitor their child’s studies and ensure that all their books are updated beforehand. Please refer to the Cycle Test programme below:

OVERNIGHT CAMPS – PAYMENT ALMOST DUE

Please note that your child’s school fees account must be up to date when making payment for the overnight camp. Parents who have paid the deposit must ensure that the full amount is paid – No payments will be accepted after 31 August 2018. Strictly adhere to this due date for payment. Learners must return a signed indemnity form to the class teacher.

FAMILY FUN DAY

We will be hosting our annual Fun Day on 1 September 2018.  The entrance fee is R60 per person.  We will host a 90 minute aerobics mass class which will be coordinated by a qualified instructor.  There will be a four team soccer and netball tournament for parents and learners. Come and enjoy fun rides, music, food and games on the day. More information will follow shortly.

Drama in Action

  2. B) “Joan of Arc” by Ndivho Hlungwani (Prestige).

Solo Verses

  1. A) “Promises” by Ndivho Hlungwani (Prestige).
  2. B) “The Thing” by Lwandle Ngcobo (Gold).
  3. C) “The Music Makers” by Onam Sithole (Silver).

All items that got Prestige will be performed during the Dynamic Drama Festival at the Auto and

General Theatre in Sandton in November. Well done to all our participants and their teachers.

 

SEGARONA ARTS AND CULTURE EISTEDDFOD DISTRICT AND PROVINCIAL RESULTS

Drama

Mr Sithole’s Learners stood in for the drama group who were busy with the Summerhill festival. They were first at the District and come third in the Provincial competition. These learners are proof that development is worthwhile.

Choral Verse Group

Sasha Domnikov, Lwandle Ngcobo, Boitumelo Maake and Onam Sithole came first in the

District and Second in the Provincials.

Unprepared Reading

Intermediate: Nhlanhla Mlangeni came first in the District and second in the Province.

Senior Phase: Caitlin Naick represented us in this category in the District competition and she performed exceptionally well.

Music

  1. Solo Piano by Reatlegile Mphake: First at the District and first in the Province
  2. Group Instrumental: First at the District
  3. Marimba Band: First at the district and third at the Province.

Congratulations to all our learners and teachers who displayed excellence at this event!

 

THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS COMPETITION

Eight learners participated in this literacy-enhancing reading competition. Fifteen novels must be read in order to prepare for the competition. Learners competed against 5 other schools, including private schools. A series of various difficult questions were asked and learners accumulated points. At the end of two rounds, Midrand Primary learners earned first place, leading by 22 points. They will proceed to the Zonal round of the competition to be held at the Diepsloot Library in September. We wish them well for the next round! Thank you to Mr. Govender, Mrs. Pillay and Ms. Nayager for coaching and facilitation.
