JOHANNESBURG EAST DISTRICT AWARDS – DRAMA
Midrand Primary school won three awards during the Johannesburg East District awards held at Marlboro Community Centre on the 30th January 2019. The results were as follows:
- Ndivho Hlungwani obtained the third position for the Cultural Learner of the Year 2018.
- Semele Nsele won first position as Best Cultural Learner of the year.
- Jokozela (Drama teacher) won first position as the Best Cultural Coordinator of the Year.
- Midrand Primary School won first position as the Best Cultural School of the year.
We congratulate our star participants and Mr. Jokozela for representing our school so well.
INTER-SCHOOLS ATHLETICS COMPETITION RESULTS
On 21 January 2019, 72 athletes from Midrand Primary school participated in the annual Inter-schools Athletics competition held at Halfway House primary school. Our team showed courage and determination and it is pleasing to reveal that we have achieved 35 medals: 12 Gold, 12 Silver and 11 Bronze. This is an amazing reflection of the exceptional performance displayed by our team on the day. Twenty three learners from our team have participated in the next level of the competition which was the District Athletics competition and the results will be communicated soon. Well done to all our athletes who participated and excelled. We are immensely proud of you.
REMINDER – VALENTINES & CIVVIES DAY / DOUGHNUT SALE
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on 15 February 2019 and learners can come to school dressed in red and white or pink at a cost of R10. Learners can also place an order with their class teacher if they would like to purchase a doughnut at a cost of R7 each. Civvies and doughnut monies are payable immediately to your child’s class teacher. Doughnut payments must be done before 13 February 2019 as there will be limited doughnuts available on the day.

Grade 1 learners have been released at 1pm daily from Monday, 04 February 2019. Kindly note that there is a compulsory waiting class for all Foundation Phase learners who are not fetched by transport drivers or parents. Only learners who walk home will be released and the rest of the learners will remain in the waiting class. The waiting class times are as follows: Monday, Tuesday and Friday until 2pm and Wednesday and Thursday until 13:30. All the parents and learners are reminded that punctuality is a must and non-negotiable. We expect maximum cooperation in this regard.
LATE COMING – A FINAL WARNING
It has been noted that learners have been coming late to school due to an increase in traffic conditions. Parents are instructed to adjust their times accordingly as well as make their children’s transport service aware of this as well. Late coming will not be tolerated as this interrupts the schools’ programme. We expect maximum co-operation in this regard and we thank you in advance.
All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
