All parents are invited to the compulsory Parents’ Meeting to be held this evening, 23 January 2020 from 18h00-20h00. Parents will assemble in the School Hall for a briefing session and presentation of the 2019 Learner Performance at 18h00 sharp. Thereafter, parents will go to their child’s classroom for an information/curriculum expectation session with the teacher as well as to receive Academic Target forms. It is compulsory for at least one parent/guardian to attend the meeting. This meeting is critical for our planning and evaluation of our work and parents’ support is important in this regard.


We apologise for the error in learners’ school diaries regarding school times. The correct school times for Monday and Tuesday are noted in the table below. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Grade 1 learners will be released at 1pm daily from 17 February 2020. Kindly note that there is a compulsory waiting class for all Foundation Phase learners who are not fetched by transport drivers or parents. Only learners who walk home will be released and the rest of the learners will remain in the waiting class. The waiting class times are as follows: Monday, Tuesday and Friday until 2pm and Wednesday and Thursday until 13:30.


Learners received their textbooks last week Friday, together with a loan form. Parents/guardians were required to check their child’s textbook conditions according to the codes on the loan form, fill it in sign it and return it. Textbooks will be taken away if the loan form is not signed and given to the class teacher. We are aware that some textbooks are quite damaged. These textbooks will be replaced soon.


The Foundation Phase learners (Grade 1-3) will have athletics practice & selections on Friday, 24 January 2020. Learners must come to school dressed in their PE uniform. Grade 4-7 learners will have their practice days on 27 and 28 January 2020. They must also come to school attired in their PE uniform on those two days. Interhouse will take place on 31 January 2020. All learners should wear their PE shorts. T-shirts can be worn according to the learner’s sports house: Tigers – blue, Leopards – red, Lions – green & Pumas – yellow. Learners should have a cap, sunscreen lotion, a healthy lunch and a water bottle.


Letters were sent out to all learners who have outstanding stationery items. Parents are urged to submit all the compulsory outstanding stationary items that were due Tuesday, 21 January 2020. Kindly ensure that all items are individually labelled with your child’s name. Please note that the toilet rolls, boxes of tissue, colour paper and ream of white paper (500 pages – Typek) requested are compulsory items for learners to submit.


All parents are reminded that all learners should have the compulsory school diary no later than Friday, 24 January 2020. The school diary is available at the finance office and costs R55.


Please consult pages 6-7 of the school diary for the summer uniform for boys and girls. Kindly note that new PE uniform was adopted by parents last year. Parents are requested to purchase the new PE uniform as soon as possible from school. All learners are to be attired accordingly. Except for female prefects, girls are not allowed to wear white socks. It is compulsory for all Grade 4-7 learners to wear their white school shirts and school tie every Tuesday for assembly.


Parents who wish to apply for school fees exemption are advised to collect application forms from the credit control office from Monday, 27 January 2020. Forms are to be completed and returned to the credit control office with the relevant supporting documents. The application period will close on Friday, 28 February 2020. Kindly note that no applications will be accepted after the closing date.


Learners are invited to attend gymnastics trials to join the Midrand Primary School Gymnastics Club. This trial is an excellent opportunity for your child to develop skills, improve stature, technique, strength and flexibility knowledge in a challenging, safe and enjoyable environment. Attire: Girls – tights and a tight t-shirt/vest (hair must be away from the face and neat) / Boys – short pants and t-shirt. Venue: School hall. Date: 28/01/2020 (Foundation Phase) and 30/01/2020 (InterSen Phase). Time: 14:00-16:00Expected Skills For FP: Cartwheel, handstand, forward and backward roll. Expected Skills For IP: Back-Flip, back and forward somersault. Please note that attending trials does NOT guarantee the learner a place in the team as there is very limited space! Please revert back to Mrs. Stokes if there are queries.


We urge parents to take advantage of a massive 10% discount if fees are settled by 31 March 2020. All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
