1. SEGARONA VIRTUAL COMPETITION
The Marimba band and the Visual Arts learners entered the Segarona virtual competition. Recordings of Marimba performances as well as artwork displays were entered into the competition. We wish our learners and their extra-mural teachers all the very best. We know that they will make us proud and excel in the competition.
- STAFFING MATTERS
We would like to welcome two new staff members to Midrand Primary school. Ms. Ngaleka has been appointed as the Grade 1 isiZulu educator who is replacing Ms. Mahlangu. Ms. Shabangu has been appointed as the Principal’s PA/administrator. We welcome our new colleagues and wish them well in their new roles at our school.
3. FANTASIA FOR LEARNERS IN GROUP B TO BE ANNOUNCED
Kindly take note that the Fantasia event for learners in Group B will be announced at a later stage once the Lockdown Alert Level changes. The safety of our learners and staff are of utmost importance. We thank our learners and parents for their patience and understanding in this regard.
4. REMINDER: SPORTING & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES TO RESUME
As per Gazette No. 44922 dated 1 August 2021, sporting and cultural activities will resume. No spectators are allowed at sports matches. Further information will be communicated once all the details have been finalized by our extra-mural coaches and teachers. Kindly note that all Covid-19 protocols will be observed at all times. We look forward to the commencement of the exciting extra-mural activities.
5. REMINDER: CORRECT USE OF THE PARKING BAYS
Parents and transport operators are instructed to park correctly in the parking bays available. Please note that parking along the edge of the street is dangerous and adds to peak traffic. We expect the co-operation of our parents and transport operators in this regard as we endeavour to ensure learner safety.
6. REMINDER: COVID-19 SYMPTOM MONITORING AT HOME
Parents are requested to monitor their children’s health on a regular basis. Learners who display any Covid-19 related symptoms should not come to school until they have fully recovered. We expect maximum co-operation in this regard to ensure the safety of all learners and staff members.
- FINAL REMINDER: GRADE 2-7 NEW APPLICATIONS AT MIDRAND PRIMARY SCHOOL
Applications for Grade 2-7 learners commenced on the 5th of August 2021. The application process will be conducted online (www.midrandprimary.co.za). Applications will close on the 10th of September 2021.
- FINAL REMINDER: GRADE 1 AND GRADE 8 ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR 2022
Applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 will be done online (www.gdeadmissions.gov.za). Phase 1 of the applications opened for Grade 8 applicants only, which began on the 10th of August 2021 and will conclude on the 3rd of September 2021. Phase 2 of the applications will be opened for both Grade 1 and Grade 8 learners on the 13th of September 2021 and will conclude on the 8th of October 2021.
9. REMINDER: SAFETY ALERT – INCIDENTS OF REMOTE JAMMING
Parents and transport operators are advised to ensure that their vehicles are locked thoroughly when dropping off or fetching learners every day. There have been incidents of remote jamming reported. Please be vigilant. No valuables should be left in the car. Parents are advised to remain in their cars when learners are dropped off as there are security and staff members who monitor learners until they get to their respective classes.
10. SCHOOL FEES
All parents are urged to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted. Use the correct references when making deposits.
