  1. STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES (2022): VISITORS AT SCHOOL

Parents and guardians are advised that no parent/guardian will be allowed on the school premises without officially making an appointment with a staff member via the school diary. The appointment has to be acknowledged and signed by the staff member. Proof will be required at the gate in order to enter the school premises. Appointments must be of an urgent or necessary nature. Exceptions will be made for uniform sales and school fees payments only. We thank you for your compliance.

  1. HPV VACCINATIONS FOR GIRLS IN GRADE 5

The Department of Health has issued consent forms to girls in Grade 5 for HPV vaccinations. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity as it is a costly vaccination that is offered for free by the Department of Health. Only one consent form needs to be completed for both doses of the vaccine. Parents/ guardians must carefully read and complete the consent form in full – including their signature and crossing the box to give consent for the vaccination. The first dose will be administered on the 24th of February 2022 at school. The date of the second dose will be communicated in due course.

  1. LEARNER ABSENTEEISM

According to our school code of conduct which is included in learners’ compulsory school diary (page 7-8 and page 19), parents must inform the class teacher in the learners’ diary of valid reasons for absence. We remind parents/guardians that it is compulsory for learners to attend school on a daily basis, unless they are unwell or there is a family emergency. Absenteeism without a valid reason will not be tolerated.

  1. FINALIZATION OF ASSESSMENTS FOR TERM 1

Educators are currently finalizing the programme of assessment for Term 1. Parents and learners are instructed to comply with the Assessment plan for Term 1. Late submissions will not be tolerated. Learners must be organized and prepare in advance in order to submit their assessment tasks on time. Learners must study effectively for tests that will be written. We remind our parents and learners that in order to meet the promotional requirements at the end of the year, learners must maintain a good academic performance from the first term.

  1. REMINDER: SCHOOL FUNDRAISING –VALENTINES BALL

Midrand Primary school will be hosting a Valentine’s Ball on Friday, 18 February 2022. The cost of the ticket is R35, and this will include a pack of popcorn and one digital photo (additional photo at a cost of R10 each). Money is payable to the class teacher. Grade 1-4 learners will have their session from 14:00-16:00 in the school hall. Grade 5-7 learners will have their session from 17:00-19:00 in the school hall. Learners will come to the Ball dressed in their fancy Valentines civvies. Parents are advised to provide enough money for food, snacks, and beverages. Parents must ensure that transport arrangements are made to fetch their children on time. We encourage all our learners to participate in this fun event – Bring your best dance moves! We deserve a celebration. Covid-19 protocols will be observed, and learners will be monitored by educators at all times. NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED.

  1. REMINDER: SCHOOL FUNDRAISING – CIVVIES DAY

All learners who did not purchase a ticket for the Valentine’s Ball can come to school attired in their civvies at a cost of R10 payable to the class teacher.

  1. REMINDER: APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL FEES EXEMPTION

Qualifying parents/guardians who wish to apply for school fees exemption are requested to collect an application form from the Credit Control office. All accompanying documents that are certified should not be older than one month. The application period will conclude on the 28th of February 2022. No late applications will be accepted.

  1. REMINDER: UNIFORM SALES

The uniform shop will operate strictly between 7:30 – 10:30 Monday – Friday as from 31 January 2022.

  1. REMINDER: COVID-19 PROTOCOLS MUST BE ADHERED TO

Learners are reminded to wash their hands and sanitize regularly. A facemask must be worn at all times, except when eating. Parents of learners who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms should seek medical attention. Learners should report to school when they have recovered.

  1. REMINDER: SCHOOL GATES

Please note that the turnstile gate on Karee Street is opened in the mornings and the afternoons for learners to use.

  1. SCHOOL FEES

We urge parents to take advantage of a massive 10% discount if fees are settled by 31 March 2022. All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
