  1. WINTER SCHOOL UNIFORM

Parents are instructed to ensure that learners wear the correct school uniform for Winter as stipulated in the school code of conduct that can be found in learners’ compulsory school diary. We remind parents that learners are only allowed to wear a maroon beanie and gloves that can be purchased from the uniform shop at school (operational from 07:30 – 10:30 daily). Girls are allowed to wear black stockings or long blue school socks. Only female prefects are allowed to white socks.

  1. LEARNER SAFETY (PROHIBITION OF CELL PHONES AT SCHOOL)

We implore parents to monitor learners’ school bags to ensure that learners do not bring cell phones to school. The code of conduct clearly stipulates that cell phones will be confiscated if brought to school. Parents need to actively monitor the usage of learners’ cell phones at home. We are concerned about what learners are exposed to and the possibility of cyber bullying. We expect our parents to support the school on these issues of learner safety.

  1. SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH PAYMENTS

The final date for the payment of school photograph packages is the 6th of June 2022.

  1. REMINDER: NEW APPLICATIONS FOR GRADES 2-7 (2023)

Applications for new admissions in Grades 2-7 for 2023 have opened (09/05/2022 – 16/09/2022). Parents are welcome to apply at school between 09:00 and 13:00. Kindly ensure that the compulsory certified documents (not older than three months) are brought to school as listed below. No late applications will be accepted. Required documents: Certified copies: Birth certificate, both parent’s ID’s. Also submit recent/latest school report, and municipality account/lease agreement. Please bring a black pen to complete the application form.

  1. REMINDER: GRADE 1 AND GRADE 8 APPLICATIONS FOR 2023

Applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions are done online and is not conducted internally at schools. Online applications will open on the 22nd of July 2022 at 08:00 and will close on the 19th of August 2022 at midnight. When applications open, parents can visit www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to apply.

  1. REMINDER: STEEL LOCKERS

Learners will be allowed to make use of school lockers from the beginning of Term 3 at a leasing cost of R50 payable to class teachers. We encourage parents to lease a locker for learners as this will assist in reducing the weight in their school bags. We also advise parents that under no circumstances will educators tolerate the excuse of leaving or forgetting books in the locker (incomplete homework). Using the locker comes with the responsibility of following your timetable and recording homework activities in the compulsory school diary. This will assist in knowing which books should be stored in the locker. Lockers will be available for learners in Grades 4-7 only.

  1. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS MUST BE ADHERED TO

According to the current SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for schools, learners are expected to wear facemasks throughout the day, unless they are eating. This will continue until the DBE updates the SOPs. Thus, learners will continue to wear their facemasks when inside and outside the building. This will be revised once the updated SOPs are received from the DBE. Parents must ensure that learners wear a facemask when leaving home and have extras in their schoolbag. This will be strictly monitored. Learners are reminded to wash their hands and sanitize regularly. Parents of learners who are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms should seek medical attention. Learners should report to school when they have recovered.
