  1. FINAL REMINDER: SGB ELECTIONS

Parents and guardians are reminded about the SGB elections that will take place this evening, the 7th of March 2024 at 17:30 in the school hall. Nominations concluded yesterday, the 6th of March 2024. We encourage parents to come on board and actively participate in the holistic functioning of the school.

  1. CLOSURE OF SCHOOL FOR TERM 1 – ISSUING OF LEARNER PROGRESS REPORTS

Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby informed that term one will end on Wednesday, the 20th of March 2024 and learners will be released at 10:00. Learners’ progress reports will ONLY be issued to PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS from 08:00 – 10:00. Term two will commence on Wednesday, the 3rd of April 2024.

  1. PAYMENT FOR SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

Learners received a photograph sample receipt this week. Parents are requested to complete the sample receipt by indicating which items they would like to order. The sample receipt must be returned to school immediately. Parents/guardians are to pay directly to the company using the payment reference on the sample receipt. The details for payment can be found on the receipt sample. Photographs orders will be issued to learners at school. The payment due date is the 10th of April 2024.

  1. LTSM TEXTBOOK RETRIEVAL FOR INTERSEN PHASE (GRADES 4-7)

Parents/guardians and learners are hereby informed that LTSM textbook retrieval will take place on the 11th and 12th of March 2024. All textbooks must be brought to school on this day. Parents will receive a letter for payment if learners have lost or damaged any of their textbooks. The replacement fee for lost or damaged textbooks in 2024 is R250 per textbook. We implore learners to take good care of their textbooks as these textbooks remain the property of the state.

  1. USE OF THE CORRECT SCHOOL UNIFORM

Parents/guardians are reminded that the compulsory school diary contains the learner code of conduct. The code of conduct clearly stipulates which uniform should be used during Summer. Furthermore, the code of conduct clearly explains learners’ standards of neatness which is expected at school and must be complied with. This is also a reminder that for Intersen Phase learners (Grades 4-7), PE takkies must be brought to school and ONLY be worn during the PE period after which learners should put on their school shoes. Learners are expected to be neatly attired in the correct school uniform daily.

  1. MONITORING OF HOMEWORK AND THE ASSESSMENT PLAN

We implore parents and guardians to monitor learners’ books to ensure that all classwork and homework activities are up to date. Incomplete activities disadvantage learners and creates academic backlogs which result in poor academic results. Strict monitoring at home on a daily basis will assist teachers to move progressively with the very lengthy syllabi at school. We also urge parents/guardians to monitor the assessment plan so that all assessment tasks, projects, and assignments are handed in on time. Late or tardy submissions will not be tolerated. We expect your co-operation in this regard.

  1. LEARNER SAFETY: SCHOLAR PATROL

We urge all parents, guardians, and transport operators to acknowledge the importance of our scholar patrol staff members, learners, and security personnel. The purpose of scholar patrol is to ensure learner safety. Therefore, we urge all parents and transport operators to obey all instructions given by the scholar patrol team. Parents/guardians who do not comply will be reported to the SAPS in line with the National School Safety Framework. We expect your co-operation in this regard.

  1. DROPPING OFF LUNCH/BOOKS/ITEMS AT SCHOOL

We hereby inform parents/guardians that they will no longer be allowed to drop off lunch/meals, books, projects or other items for learners at school. We expect our learners to be responsible and bring their lunches/meals from home. We also remind parents to ensure that learners are organized and prepared the day before so that they do not forget to bring their books and assessments/projects to school as per their timetables and assessment plans. This is non-negotiable. This has been effected due to learner safety concerns and we expect our parents and guardians to co-operate with the school.

  1. SCHOOL FEES

We urge parents to take advantage of a massive 10% discount if fees are settled by 31 March 2024. All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
