1. WELCOME TO TERM 3!

On behalf of the SGB and SMT, we would like to extend a hearty welcome to our staff, learners, and parents to the third academic term of 2024. We wish to congratulate all our learners who have met the minimum promotional requirements in Term 2, and to our learners who did not, we encourage you to work towards improving your results this term. There will be numerous activities taking place this term so we encourage our parents and learners to check weekly newsletters as well as to adhere to the assessment plan that will be issued soon. We wish our staff, learners, and parents a successful term ahead!

 

2. TERM 3 PARENTS’ EVENING

Kindly take note that the Term 3 Parents’ Evening will take place on the 18^th of July 2024 strictly from 16:00–18:00 (no late comers). Parents will have the opportunity to view learners’ assessment, to see/discuss cumulative defaults, to set academic targets as well as to discuss their child’s performance with subject teachers. Parents of learners who have not been achieving the minimum promotional requirements thus far will receive a letter to attend a separate COMPULSORY meeting. It is vital for at least one parent/guardian to attend this important meeting. We thank you for your co-operation.

 

3. COLLECTION OF TERM 2 LEARNER PROGRESS REPORTS BY PARENTS

Parents who have not yet collected progress reports will be able to do so during Parents’ Evening.

 

4. PYJAMA DAY

As the icy breeze of winter blows in, it is time for our learners to get an opportunity to wear their PJ’s to school! Our annual Pyjama Day will take place on the 26^th of July 2024. Learners can come to school dressed snuggly in their WINTER pyjamas at a cost of R25 payable only on the Karri App. NO CIVVIES ARE ALLOWED ON THIS DAY! We encourage our learners not to miss out on the fun!

 

5. GRADE 7 OVERNIGHT CAMP

Parents and guardians are reminded about the Grade 7 overnight camp. Please note that in order for Grade 7 learners to attend camp, their school fees account must be up to date. All payments must be made on the Karri App. Kindly note that there are only 120 places, so the first 120 parents to pay the camp deposit fee will reserve their child’s space for the camp. The cut-off date for the full payment is the 31^st of August 2024 after which NO PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED! Parents are encouraged to pay in three instalments (June, July and August). Please take note of the Grade 7 overnight camp details below:

6. NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS FOR INTERMEDIATE PHASE (GRADE 4-6) LEARNERS

Parents/guardians and learners are reminded that due to unforeseen circumstances, our Grade 4-6 learners will not be going on overnight camps this year.

 

7. GRADE 1 AND GRADE 8 APPLICATIONS FOR 2025

Applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions are done online and are not conducted internally at schools. Online applications opened today, the 11^th of July 2024 at 08:00 and will close on the 12^th of August 2024 at midnight. Parents can visit www.gdeadmissions.gov.za to apply.

 

8. STAFFING MATTERS

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Ms. N. Faku who will be teaching in the Intersen Phase. We wish her all the best.

 

9. DUE DATE APPROACHING – GRADE 2-7 NEW APPLICATIONS FOR 2025

Applications for new admissions in Grades 2-7 for 2025 commenced on the 15^th of April 2024 and will conclude on the 16^th of August 2024. Parents are welcome to apply at school between 09:00 and 13:00. Kindly ensure that the compulsory certified documents (not older than three months) are brought to school as listed below. No late applications will be accepted. Required documents: Certified copy of birth certificate, certified copy of parent’s ID’s, recent/latest school report, and municipality account/lease agreement. Please bring a black pen to complete the application form.

 

10. USE OF THE CORRECT WINTER UNIFORM

Parents and guardians are hereby reminded that learners must use the correct Winter school uniform. When learners wear their school tracksuits, they must wear school shoes. The only time takkies are permitted is during PE lessons. This means that learners are not allowed to wear takkies to school. Furthermore, the takkies must be BLACK OR WHITE as per the Code of Conduct. Fancy colourful sneakers are not allowed. Learners are also expected to wear maroon beanies, gloves, and scarves (All 3 items for R190). Other colours of beanies, gloves, and scarves and not allowed. Only Grade 1-3 & LSEN learners are allowed to wear their PE uniform and takkies from home. This will be strictly monitored. We expect your co-operation in this regard!

 

11. SCHOOL FEES

All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
