  1. HUMAN RIGHTS DAY LONG WEEKEND

Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby informed that school will be closed on Friday, the 21st of March 2025 as the country observes Human Rights Day. We wish our staff and school community a safe and enjoyable long weekend.

 

  1. CLOSURE OF SCHOOL FOR TERM 1 – ISSUING OF LEARNER PROGRESS REPORTS

Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby informed that term one will conclude on Friday, the 28th of March 2025 and learners will be released at 10:00. Learners’ progress reports will ONLY be issued to PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS from 08:00 – 10:00. Term two will commence on Tuesday, the 8th of April 2025.

 

  1. STAFFING MATTERS

We would like to welcome Ms. R. Ntshungu who has been who has been appointed as a finance clerk at MPS. We wish her all the best.

 

  1. LTSM TEXTBOOK RETRIEVAL

Please note that all textbooks and readers will be retrieved on 18th and 19th of March 2025 for auditing purposes.  R250 is payable immediately on the Karri App for each lost or damaged book.  We implore learners to take good care of textbooks as textbooks remain the property of the state. We thank you for your co-operation.

 

  1. CYBER BULLYING & THE USE OF CELL PHONES AMONG LEARNERS

Parents and guardians are hereby advised that the number of cyber bullying incidents reported by learners are rapidly increasing. As a school, we do not have any control over what goes on at home after school and on social media. We strongly encourage and advise parents to check the contents of their child’s cell phone on a regular basis. We also implore parents to ensure that learners are not utilizing social media as these apps have age restrictions (18). Please note that the school will not attend to matters pertaining to social media as these occurrences take place at home and after school hours. Parents and guardians must monitor not just their child’s screen-time, but also the contents of their child’s cell phone.

 

  1. INTERSEN PHASE (GRADES 4-7) CYCLE TEST PROGRAMME

Parents and learners are reminded about the Cycle test programme that commenced on the 03rd of March 2025 and will conclude tomorrow, the 14th of March 2025. A copy of the timetable has been issued to learners. In order for learners to produce good results, parents must ensure that learners revise and prepare adequately. Please note that there will be tests for some subjects only, as other subjects will be assessed with other forms of assessment which is prescribed in subject Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs). Teaching and learning will continue as per normal until the end of the term. All the best to our learners for the test programme.

 

  1. SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS

Kindly note that learners will receive their photograph sample packs today. Parents must use the information on the package to place their orders online directly with the photography company. Payments will not take place on the Karri app. The cut-off date for payment is the 15th of April 2025.

 

 

 

  1. ATHLETICS:

Our athletes competed at the District Meeting on the 25th of February 2025. The athletes represented the school and the district exceptionally well! A special congratulations to Gomolemo Kekana (2nd HJ), Tayana Machekano (2nd HJ), Nhlelo Hlungwane (2nd 200m), Afunwaho Tshikhovhokhovho (3rd 1500m), Mpho Ramohlola (2nd SP), Malachi Arendse (1st 80m and 100m), Phumudzo Siganunu (3rd LJ), Henry Onumonu (2nd SP) and Luthando Mcaba (1st HJ). All our athletes did their best and we’re proud to announce that 8 of our athletes will be proceeding to Provincials which will take place on the 14th and 15th of March 2025. We wish them all the best!

 

  1. REMINDER: DISPOSAL OF THE LOST AND FOUND UNIFORMS

Parents and guardians are hereby informed that all uniforms that have not been collected by the 28th of March 2025 will be disposed of. Uncollected uniforms have been at the lost and found for too long and have been taking up too much of space. We implore parents and guardians to kindly fetch these uniforms.

 

  1. VACANCIES AT MPS

  1. GYMNASTICS:

The gymnasts who qualified at last year’s trials are requested to collect their contract at the sports office. Parents should carefully read and sign the contract before their child starts with gymnastic classes. No learner will be allowed to train without a signed contract. Thank you for your co-operation.

 

  1. SCHOOL FEES

We urge parents to take advantage of a massive 10% discount if fees are settled by 31 March 2025. All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
