Parents and guardians are hereby informed that due to the required quorum not being met, the new date for the AGM is the 7th of November 2024 at 17:00. Kindly note that this re-scheduled meeting does not require a quorum. We sincerely thank all parents/guardians who attended the initial meeting. It is imperative that parents/guardians attend this important meeting.
- VACCINATION CAMPAIGN (TDAP) – NEW DATE
Health officials will be carrying out their vaccination drive for the administration of the Tdap vaccine (Tetanus, diphtheria & pertussis) for Grade 5 girls and boys whose parents/guardians have given consent. This will take place during school hours tomorrow, the 1st of November 2024. Kindly note that this will be a normal school day.
- MANDELA DAY BOOK DRIVE: TERM 4 WINNERS
We are proud to announce the following winners who have managed to collect the highest number of books for the Mandela Day book drive: Foundation Phase – Grade 3 (Mrs. Terblanche’s class) collected 101 books; Intersen Phase – Grade 7.4 (Ms. Lesufi’s class) collected 107 books. We congratulate these teachers and their classes on collecting the most books this term. These two classes will have their FREE civvies day on Friday, the 8th of November 2024. In total, we have managed to collect whopping 587 books! We sincerely thank our learners, parents/guardians, sponsors, and staff for making this year’s Book Drive a resounding success. We are also proud to announce that our Media Centre will be operational from 2025 thanks to the support of our school community.
- FINAL EXAMINATION TIMETABLE
It is that time of the year when learners must sit for their final examination / school-based common assessment tasks. We have attached the timetable on the last page, and we remind our parents / guardians to please assist in monitoring that learners are indeed studying and properly preparing themselves for this rigorous process. The examination will commence on the 11th of November 2024 and conclude on the 22nd of November 2024. Assessment in the Foundation Phase (Grades 1-3 & LSEN) is continuous, and learners must attend school daily.
- LEARNER DEPART TIMES DURING THE FINAL EXAMINATIONS
Parents / guardians are hereby informed to make proper transport arrangements because Grade 1-7 & LSEN learners will be released at 13h00 daily during the examination period. No learner should be loitering after school. There will be no waiting class for Foundation Phase learners from the beginning of the final examinations.
- SURGE OF FOOD POISONING INCIDENTS IN SOUTH AFRICA
A letter was issued to learners on the 16th of October 2024 detailing the alarming rise in the number of food poisoning-related cases at schools across South Africa. We urge parents and guardians to purchase safe snacks for their learners so that they do not buy contaminated, expired, or unsafe food/snacks from vendors. We always aim to ensure that our learners are safe at all times. Thank you for your co-operation.
- SCHOOL PROTOCOLS AND PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED ALWAYS
Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby instructed to ensure that they follow the correct protocols and procedures enshrined in the school Code of Conduct. In case of incidents that require action, learners must report the matter to the class teacher or the educator on duty at that area. If the learner or parent is unsatisfied with the resolve, they should seek an appointment with the Grade Departmental Head. Thereafter, the Deputy principal will take action should the learner and parent not be satisfied. Finally, after all these measures, the parent and learner can request an appointment with the principal. Under no circumstances should parents take the law into their own hands and address other learners inside or outside the school premises. We implore parents to follow the correct protocols and procedures that are lawfully enforced by the school Code of Conduct, and we thank you for your compliance.
- REMINDER: DROPPING OFF LUNCH/BOOKS/ITEMS AT SCHOOL
We hereby remind parents/guardians that they will no longer be allowed to drop off lunch or meals for learners at school. We expect our learners to be responsible and bring their lunches/meals from home. We also remind parents to ensure that learners are organized and prepared the day before so that they do not forget to bring their books and assessments/projects to school as per their timetables and assessment plans. This is non-negotiable. This has been effected due to learner safety concerns and we expect our parents and guardians to co-operate with the school.
- LTSM TEXTBOOK RETRIEVAL
Kindly take note that textbook retrieval will take place daily after each subject has been written. Parents/guardians are urged to make urgent payment of R250 per lost or damaged textbook. We advise parents/guardians to not wait until the end of the year to make these payments.
- REMINDER: SUSPENSION OF ALL EXTRA-MURAL ACTIVITIES
Parents and guardians are advised that from the 18th of October 2024, most extra-murals will be suspended (except for gymnastics, Visual Arts and Drama). We thank our participants and their respective coaches for their hard work during the course of the year and we wish them all the best for next year.
- GYMNASTICS TRIALS
It might be your turn to join the gymnastics team for 2025. Mrs. Stokes-Thubakgale will be hosting gymnastics trials in the school hall on the following date for Intersen Phase: 31/10/2024 (Grade 4-6; 14h00 – 15h30). Learners are to wear appropriate gym attire for trials. Results will only be communicated with successful candidates a week after the trial date.
