  1. SGB ELECTIONS

Parents and guardians are hereby informed about the SGB elections that will take place on the 7th of March 2024 at 17:30 in the school hall. Parents/guardians are encouraged to collect nomination forms from the 8th of February 2024. Nominations must be done on or before the 6th of March 2024. We encourage parents to come on board and actively participate in the holistic functioning of the school.

 

  1. INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS

Interhouse Athletics will take place tomorrow, the 2nd of February 2024. Learners will come to school wearing their house colors (t-shirt), together with PE shorts. Learners should not bring their school bags unless there is inclement weather. Learners must bring a healthy lunch and a water bottle. Learners are reminded to bring a cap for sun protection. Interhouse will run during normal school times. Team colors: Lions – Red; Tiger – Blue; Leopard – Green; and Puma – Yellow. 

 

  1. COMPULSORY PARENTS’ EVENING

All parents/guardians are requested to attend the compulsory parents’ evening to be held on the 08th of February 2024 from 16:00 – 18:00 (NO LATE COMERS). Parents are requested to meet promptly at 16:00 in their child’s class for an important information sharing session. Thereafter, parents/guardians will also set academic targets for 2024. It is compulsory for at least one parent/guardian to attend the meeting. For Foundation Phase, only one parent per learner will be permitted due to limited seating. Parents who cannot attend the meeting due to valid reasons are welcome to set up an appointment with their child’s teacher at a convenient time. We look forward to a fruitful meeting. We encourage parents to communicate with educators on a regular basis during the course of the year.

 

  1. VALENTINES DAY CIVVIES

Learners will be allowed to wear civvies to school on the 16th of February 2024 at a cost of R20 payable only on the Karri app. The colours for the day are red, white, and pink. A small token of appreciation will be given to the best dressed learner in each class. We remind parents to ensure that learners come to school respectfully and modestly dressed, being fully clothed. Make-up is NOT allowed!

 

  1. STAFF MATTERS

We would like to inform our school community of the retirement of Mrs. E. Pillay who has been the Languages Departmental Head at our school for the past thirteen years. Serving in the education fraternity for forty-four years, Mrs. Pillay has been an exceptional leader and an invaluable asset. We wish Mrs. Pillay all the best as she ventures into her next chapter, and we thank her for her distinctive contributions to our school. We congratulate Mrs. M. Mahlangu who is the Acting Departmental Head for the Department of Languages for Term 1, and we wish her all the best in her new role at our school.

 

  1. ANNUAL SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPH DAY

Our annual school photograph day will take place on the 19th of February 2024. All learners must come to school well-groomed and neatly attired in a white shirt and a school tie. Package prices and further details will be communicated. Learners will not be allowed to wear PE uniform or civvies on the day.

 

  1. SCHOOL LOCKERS FOR INTERSEN PHASE LEARNERS (GRADES 4-7)

Lockers are available to Intersen Phase learners at a cost of R65 for the year. Parents/guardians should use the Karri app to make payments. No cash will be accepted. Due date for payment: 25 February 2024.

Kindly take note of the school times below. Late coming disrupts learning and WILL NOT be tolerated. Traffic and load shedding is now a regular expectation; therefore, parents/guardians must adjust their times to accommodate these challenges.

There will be compulsory waiting class for Foundation Phase learners where they will wait TO BE SIGNED OUT by parents/transport operators.

 

  1. TUMBLING GYMNASTIC

Congratulations to the nine gymnasts (Zwelakhe Dlamini, Skhanyiso Chibi, Kelebogile Nku, Mukona Siliga, Asinga Malapa, Phatsimo Moumakwe, Joy Masemola and Delightful Shongwe) who qualified for the 2024 Tumbling SA CUP that will be held in Port Elizabeth in March 2024. We wish them all the best!

 

  1. SCHOOL FEES EXEMPTION APPLICATIONS

Parents who qualify for school fees exemption can collect application forms from the credit control office from 01/02/2024. The cutoff date for school fees exemption application is 29/02/2024.

 

  1. SCHOOL FEES

We urge parents to take advantage of a massive 10% discount if fees are settled by 31 March 2024. All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
