  1. WELCOME TO TERM 4!

On behalf of the SMT and SGB of Midrand Primary school, we extend a warm welcome to our staff, learners, and parents to the final academic term of the year. We hope that everyone enjoyed the short break. We encourage parents to support learners in completing all their assessment tasks on time and to begin preparations for the final examination (timetable will be issued soon). We encourage all our learners to strive for excellence. We wish our staff and learners all the best for the final academic term of 2024.

  1. REMINDER: HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MPS

Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby notified that Heritage Day will be commemorated tomorrow, the 4th of October 2024. Learners will be allowed to come to school attired in their respective cultural clothing at no cost. We encourage all our learners and staff members to represent their heritage and culture by showcasing their cultural attire on the day. NO CIVVIES OR MAKE-UP WILL BE ALLOWED. PARENTS MUST MONITOR WHAT LEARNERS WEAR TO SCHOOL.

  1. REMINDER OF THE AGM FOR 2024

Parents and guardians are reminded to attend the AGM which will be held on the 24th of October 2024 at 17:00. It is imperative that parents/guardians attend this important meeting.

  1. STAFF MATTERS

We would like to congratulate Mrs. A. Wilken on being promoted to Departmental Head (Languages). We wish her all the best in her career endeavours at Midrand Primary school.

  1. COLLECTION OF TERM 3 PROGRESS REPORTS: BY PARENTS/GUARDIANS ONLY

Parents or guardians that did not collect learners’ progress reports at the end of the last term can do so during Parents’ Evening which will be held next week (see the item below).

  1. COMPULSORY PARENTS’ EVENING – TERM 4 2024

Parents and guardians are invited to attend the Term four COMPULSORY Parents’ Evening that will take place on the 10th of October 2024 strictly from 16:00 – 18:00 (no late comers). Parents will have the opportunity to view learners’ Term three assessments and set academic targets for Term four. Parents will also have the opportunity to discuss academic results with subject educators.

  1. REMINDER: WAITING AREAS TO BE USED FROM TERM 4

Parents/guardians are hereby reminded that Grade 1-3 & LSEN learners must be fetched from the compulsory waiting area at the Karee Steet entrance until 14:00. The Karee Street Gate will be locked at 14:30. The previous Foundation Phase gate will no longer be used to exit the school in the afternoons. Grade 4-7 learners will exit the Poplar Street gate after school. We emphasize that learners must be fetched IMMEDIATELY after school. Loitering after school will not be tolerated. All learners who are not fetched on time will be sent to the Poplar Street waiting area at the bottom gate where they must be fetched.

 

  1. KAREE STREET GATE

The Karee Street gate will be locked promptly at 07:30 and at 14:30. After these times the Poplar Street gate must be used. The Karee Street gate may not be used by parents to access the school. 

 

 

 

  1. MANDELA DAY BOOK DRIVE TERM 4

Parents are learners are reminded that the Mandela Day Book Drive continues in Term 4. We encourage parents to donate as many books as possible. A free Civvies Day is up for grabs for the Foundation Phase and Intersen Phase class that collects the highest number of books. We thank parents and learners for their donations thus far. A reading nation is a leading nation.

 

  1. RE-REGISTRATIONS FOR 2025

Re-registrations will take place online through a link sent to the email address on our system. Parents who experience difficulties registering online can contact or visit the school for assistance. Forms were issued electronically to all parents/guardians to complete and pay the re-registration fee. The closing date for re-registration will be the 04th of October 2024 and the closing date for re-registration payments of R2000.00 will be on the 30th of November 2024. School fees need to be paid in full or the necessary payment arrangements must be made by the 30th of October 2024. We thank our parents/guardians for their continued co-operation.

  1. EXTRA-MURAL RESULTS

SOUTH AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMING ARTS NATIONALS: Our Music group took part in the above competition and performed excellently. The results are as follows: Results for 4 categories – (1) Open: 10 Gold Medals; (2) Contemporary: 10 Gold medals; (3) Jazz: 10 Gold Medals and (4) Original work: 10 Gold Medals. The team also received an overall trophy of excellence. We congratulate the coach, Mr. Motswe and his team for their excellent work.

ALLEGRETTO EISTEDDFOD PROVINCIAL (BENONI): The following results were obtained in the above competition: Solo Piano: Paniel Mathlaba A+(85%); Solo Piano: Clara Mbakou A+(85%); Vocal duo: A+(88%); Marimba: A+++(100), and a 1st Position Trophy. The team will be participating in nationals on the 3rd of November 2024. We congratulate the coach, Mr. Motswe and his team for their excellent work.

BASWA LE MEETSE: Our school participated at the national level of the above art competition in collaboration with the Water and Sanitation department. We obtained position one and won R20 000. We congratulate Smangele Nsele for her excellent performance. We thank Mr. Mashati and Ms. T. Mavundla for their facilitation of this competition.

  1. SCHOOL FEES

All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
