- CLOSURE OF SCHOOL FOR TERM 3 – ISSUING OF PROGRESS REPORTS
Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby informed that Term 3 will conclude on the 20TH of September 2024. Progress reports will be issued to PARENTS / LEGAL GUARDIANS (not learners) from 07:30-10:00. Learners will be released at 10:00. School will re-open for Term 4 on Tuesday, the 1st of October 2024. We wish our staff and learners a safe and an enjoyable holiday.
- NOTICE OF THE AGM FOR 2024
Parents and guardians are hereby invited to attend the AGM to be held on the 24th of October 2024 at 17:00. Letters will be issued to parents on the 20th of September 2024 upon the collection of progress reports. It is imperative that parents/guardians attend this important meeting. We look forward to meeting with you.
- COMPULSORY PARENTS’ EVENING – TERM 4 2024
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the Term four COMPULSORY Parents’ Evening that will take place on the 10th of October 2024 strictly from 16:00 – 18:00 (no late comers). Parents will have the opportunity to view learners’ Term three assessments and set academic targets for Term four. Parents will also have the opportunity to discuss academic results with subject educators as well as view learners’ cumulative defaults/demerits. At least one parent/guardian must attend this important meeting.
- FAMILY FUNDAY FEEDBACK
Our Family Fun Day was held on the 14th of September 2024, and it was a resounding success. Much of this success is due to our parents and learners who always support our school’s fundraising initiatives. We express our heartfelt thanks to our school community for supporting the event. We thank the event organizers, Mr. Sikhosana and Mrs. Stokes-Thubakgale for their continued effort in ensuring the success of the event as well as all our hardworking and dedicated staff members for being on duty on the day of the event. Finally, we express gratitude to our SGB for their support and active involvement in the event.
- HERITAGE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT MPS
Parents, guardians, and learners are hereby notified that Heritage Day will be commemorated on the 4th of October 2024. Learners will be allowed to come to school attired in their respective cultural clothing at no cost. We encourage all our learners and staff members to represent their heritage and culture by showcasing their cultural attire on the day. NO CIVVIES OR MAKE-UP WILL BE ALLOWED. PARENTS MUST MONITOR WHAT LEARNERS WEAR TO SCHOOL.
- MANDELA DAY BOOK DRIVE FEEDBACK FOR TERM 3
We are proud to announce that for Term 3, we have managed to collect 186 books for our Mandela Day Book Drive. We thank our teachers, parents, and learners for their contributions. The winner for Term 3 in Foundation phase is Mrs. Synman’s class with a collection of 38 books and the winner in Intersen phase is Ms. Lesufi’s class with a collection of 24 books. Congratulations to these educators and their classes who will enjoy a free civvies day today, 19 September 2024. A reminder that the Book Drive will run in Term 4 as well and new winners will be announced. We encourage parents and learners to donate as many books as possible in Term 4! We believe that a reading nation is a leading nation. 😊
- GRADE 4 NS/TECH SPELLING BEE RESULTS
The science department hosted the Natural Science and Technology spelling bee on the 18th of September 2024. Bohlale Sehlobo received 1st position, Amore Ackerman received 2nd position, and Isabella Maimela received the 3rd position. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Spur Minnetonka and the Gauteng Art for Public School’s team for the donation of prizes for our winners. We thank Ms. Lesufi, Mrs. Zono and Ms. T. Mavundla for organizing this successful event.
- BATTLE OF THE BOOKS RESULTS – ROUND 2
On the 9th of September 2024, the Battle of the Books team participated in the second round of the competition. Despite winning in the first leg of the second round of the competition, our learners will not proceed to the next round of the competition as they did not accumulate enough points. Nonetheless, we would like to congratulate the team for their hard work and for reading the required ten novels. We thank Mr. Govender for coaching and facilitating.
- RE-REGISTRATIONS FOR 2025
Re-registrations will take place online through a link sent to the email address on our system. Parents who experience difficulties registering online can contact or visit the school for assistance. Forms were issued electronically to all parents/guardians to complete and pay the re-registration fee. The closing date for re-registration will be the 02nd of October 2024 and the closing date for re-registration payments of R2000.00 will be on the 30th of November 2024. School fees need to be paid in full or the necessary payment arrangements must be made by the 30th of October 2024. We thank our parents/guardians for their continued co-operation.
- REMINDER: WAITING AREAS TO BE USED FROM TERM 4
Parents/guardians are hereby informed of the following: Grade 1-3 & LSEN learners must be fetched from the compulsory waiting area at the Karee Steet entrance until 14:00. Learners who are not fetched by 14:00 must wait at the Poplar Street waiting area at the bottom gate. The previous Foundation Phase gate will no longer be used to exit the school in the afternoons. Grade 4-7 learners must be fetched from the compulsory waiting area at the bottom gate on Poplar Street after school. We emphasize that learners must be fetched IMMEDIATELY after school. Loitering after school will not be tolerated.
- SCHOOL FEES
All parents are requested to ensure that their school fees account is up to date. School fees can be paid at the school’s finance office using debit or credit card or by direct deposit into the school’s bank account. No cash will be accepted.
