We would also like to congratulate Jemma-Alison Meiring on her selection for the JHB Far North Cricket Team. Jemma-Alison’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as she is one of the few girls participating in cricket at this level.  G) Gymnastics Achievement (Provincials):

What an exciting yet challenging season for our gymnasts! The season started on a good note, with a lot of room for improvement. Throughout the season the gymnasts developed competitive awareness that led to pleasing results as we close the season. The gymnasts accumulated a total of 12 Gold, 8 Silver and 2 Bronze. To top it all off, 98% of the gymnasts were in the top 10 within their respective level and age group. The following Gymnasts were 1st overall; Owame Seroke L1, Kurhula Ndukulu L2, Tinyiko Mbhalati L2 and Phenyo Tsebe L4.

 H) Gym Games (Gymnastics Nationals):

Level 4 and higher are the only respective levels that currently qualifies to attend Nationals. The following learners qualified to represent the Gauteng at the Nationals that were held in Cape Town during the term 3 break/holidays; Rethabile and Bathabile Motsie, Orapetswe Mosupi, Zwelakhe Dlamini and Phenyo Tsebe. The Nationals participation was fruitful, and we are very proud of each one of them. With that said, a huge congratulations to Phenyo Tsebe who came 2nd overall and Zwelakhe Dlamini who came 1st overall making him the National champion within his respective level and age group. A special thank you to our coaches (Ms. Stokes and Mr. Sikhosana) for the time, patience, passion and dedication they poured into the sport.

  1. FINAL REMINDER: PATTERNS OF REGULAR ABSENTEEISM

Class teachers have reported an increase in the number of learners who are regularly absent from school. This is a serious concern for many reasons. It disturbs the learners’ process of learning, creates content gaps and often results in learners missing assessments which are being written on a continuous basis.

We implore all parents to ensure that learners attend school on a daily basis. In cases of emergency, ill health or other VALID reasons for absence, parents/guardians must communicate with the class teacher via learners’ compulsory diary. Evidence must be provided, where necessary. A register is being kept and communicated with the District on a weekly basis for learners who are regularly absent without valid reason. We expect maximum co-operation in this regard. The school has a legal duty to report suspected cases of child neglect, and this is normally identified through unexplained regular absenteeism by some learners. The school will complete Form 22 in line with the SBST policy, and an investigation will ensue, driven by social workers and the GDE.

  1. REMINDER: 2027 STATIONERY REQUIREMENTS

Parents and guardians are reminded that the purchasing of learner stationery and exercise books for the 2027 academic year is solely the responsibility of parents/guardians as per the Parents’ meeting resolution taken this year. We emphasize that this is being done to ensure that ALL learner stationery requirements are met so that teaching and learning can effectively commence on day one of the 2027 academic year. We thank our parents/guardians in advance for their co-operation in this regard. The 2027 stationery lists are available below. Click on the link to access the stationery lists for relevant grades:
